We are a spin-off from the Department of Optometry and Vision Science of the University of Latvia, developing a unique methodology for computerized vision screening.
Our method allows to detect a variety of vision functions with a simple wearable device in one set:
- Visual acuity at far and near
- Binocular vision test
- Stereoacuity (random dot test)
- Accommodation facility (lens flipper method)
- Vergence facility
- Colour vision (pseudoisochromatic test)
- Phorias
- Fusional reserve tests
- Near point of convergence
This approach allows high quality vision screening tests in cases when visiting an optometrist or ophthalmologist is not obvious or unavailable, e.g. for school children in a wide list of countries. Unlike wearable devices currently available on the market, our solution allows to test much more vision functions at once, which means that different types of vision problems can be detected and treated timely, particularly for younger children.
Our proposed solution is based on specific algorithms and a simple set of filters and lenses. It can be easily operated even by a non-specialist. The methodology is tested on more than 11 000 children in Latvian schools. Proven specificity and sensitivity of our screening method is 87% and 77% respectively.
Now we are looking for industry experts and potential customers for further product prototype development. Considering your wide experience and competences in ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, we would like to get in touch with you and see if there is a place for mutually beneficial collaboration.
